I love January. Not because of the weather (although I enjoyed the extra day with the kids due to an unexpected snow day on Friday).

I love the promise of a new beginning. A clean slate. An opportunity to start all over. January gives us a blank canvas and another opportunity to create something beautiful and pleasing to God with our lives throughout the next 12 months.

In the last weeks of the year we were assaulted with so many opinions regarding my health. Doctors and their opinions. I’ve had enough of both. *insert eye roll*

I want to sincerely thank you all for the texts/calls/cards/fb messages/etc. Please know that I feel your love each time you reach out. You have made my day many times over these last few weeks with all the loving and praying and caring and giving. I’m a blessed girl to have friends and family like you in my life and every gesture of love from you feeds my soul.

I do not like to go this long without posting an update. I kept waiting for more definitive information to share, but if I wait until I have all the answers, I will never update, so I decided to try to concisely catch you up today. (Keep in mind though, concise is not one of my gifts. Words are. Lots and lots of words.) 🙂

Side effects from the oral meds started going to a new level right before Thanksgiving and the mayhem continued into this week, despite the fact that I haven’t taken any of the medication in almost two weeks.

I have a quick health update, and then I want to share something very important with you all.

Until a few days ago, I was utterly miserable for the previous two weeks. You don’t hear me say that too often, but I have not tolerated the oral meds very well.

Oh my goodness, even with the reduced dosage, round three came on strong with extreme fatigue, neuropathy, and major hand-foot syndrome. The skin between my thumb and finger and the palms of my hands cracked and peeled, despite loads of skin moisturizer. I also completely lost the top layer of skin on the bottom of both feet. Although my feet looked worse, my hands were more painful. (I’ll spare the photos. You’re welcome.) 🙂

Okay, here’s the super amazing story I wanted to share with you. I still cannot believe this happened!

You may recall that I recently mentioned Pink Night, an event held every October, sponsored by Conway High School Lady Cat Volleyball coaches and players.

I was shocked to learn in late August that I had been chosen as the recipient for this amazing event.

Equally as special, this year, the CHS dance team joined with the volleyball team and those dancers and volleyball players (and their coaches and parents) made this night extraordinary!
